W. Nagel's VISION OF AN EAST FRONT FOLLOWER
Nazi Art the U.S. Military Gathered After Defeating Hitler - Caption:FORT BELVOIR, VA - FEBRUARY 7, 2014: Willfried Nagel's 'Vision of an East Front Follower' is a 1943 oil painting on canvas that is being housed at the Army Art Collection US Army Center of Military History Museum Support Center on Friday, February 7, 2014, in Fort Belvoir, VA. The painting, property of Luftgaukommando VI Kunst der Front, was taken by US soldiers during WWII from Schloss Ringberg (near Tegernsee). As a new movie, 'The Monuments Men,' celebrates the GIs who recovered precious European art that was stolen by the Nazis, American soldiers were also gathering another kind of art: that produced by the Nazis. In the wake of the war, allied forces embarked on the 'de-nazification' of Germany. That meant collecting reams of Nazi propaganda art. Much of that material, including watercolors by Adolf Hitler, now resides at the Army's Museum Support Center at Fort Belvoir.

MY COMMENT: "An impressive and visionary painting that should be known. Not easy to find a picture of it at the moment. Check out the link. A.k.a. VISION OF A SOLDIER ON THE EASTERN FRONT"
